SOR neoTrans/AM Series will be utilizing a Race Weekend format. So Events will take place over two days utilizing dynamic weather. The Weekend will start with a 6 hour open session on Saturday, starting a 12:00 EDT / 16:00 GMT. This will allow teams/drivers to test and practice in preparation for the race ahead.
Sunday the Race session will open at 15:00 EDT / 19:00 GMT. Things will start with a 40 minute Warm-up/Check-in before qualifying. The warm-up time is to allow drivers to make adjustments for any weather changes from Saturday to Sunday. Although pre-2000 SCCA Trans/AM only provided 30 minutes for warm-up, the additional time is considered a ‘check-in’ buffer. Registered Drivers have the first 30 minutes to check-in. The last 10 minutes of warm-up, Drivers on the Reserve List will be permitted* to join.
*Drivers on the Reserve List may join the warm-up sooner than the last 10 minutes, but are subject to removal if space is not available for Registered Drivers. They may re-join if a slot becomes open after 15:30 EDT / 19:30 GMT.
Sunday Qualifying will start at 15:41 EDT / 19:41 GMT. Qualifying will last for 20 minutes giving drivers 4 solo laps to set their best time to determine grid order.
Late Registration will close at 16:00 EDT / 20:00 GMT. Cars will begin to grid at 16:01 EDT / 20:00 GMT.
All neoTrans/AM Series Races will have a rolling-start, with full course cautions. This is to prevent drivers taking excessive risks if an accident is to occur, and will allow drivers who got caught behind an incident to get another chance to make a play for position. If a driver is caught up in an incident, all drivers will be provided with one ‘Fast Repair’ per race. We understand that racing hard for position can result in incidents. Sometimes it's just bad luck (like a car spins leaving nowhere to go), or perhaps a mistake in judgement was made. We have found the providing one Fast Repair provides a way as to allow drivers a second chance. At SOR, we believe that even though clean and fast lap times are important. We also believe that providing an environment where drivers can learn and grow as a driver is just as important. The fast-repair is to give drivers the ability to get back on track so they can learn from what happened and grow from it.
Looking back to pre-2000’s SCCA Trans/AM, races at most venues were 100 mi( approx. 161 Km) in length. However with the utilization of the Xfinity Ford and Chevy, a 100mi race would not allow non-stop green-flag racing characteristic of pre-2000’s SCCA Trans/Am. Because we like the historic significance of the 100 units of distance, All neoTrans/AM Races will be 100Km in distance (rounded up to the nearest lap).
